Sydney, Australia Chandler Macleod Full time

We are currently recruiting for a number of Graduate and/or Student Field Surveyors to join our client, a Local Government agency based in Sydney CBD. This contract is due to end in June 2023 with a pay rate of $28.49ph + super, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm.

Please note that you will be required to work a minimum of 4 days per week.

**My Client**:
My client is currently working on a major five-yearly data collection project and is looking for a team of motivated and enthusiastic university students to assist us.

We have a number of casual positions available for students who are able to work independently and efficiently. You will be required to approach businesses within the Local Government Area and request access to their premises for the purposes of conducting a visual survey. Using an Apple iPad tablet you will be responsible for accurately collecting (editing and annotating) the required data and then returning the data to our GIS staff for validation and data entry.

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Individually approaching businesses and requesting access to their premises;
- Collecting the data accurately and efficiently;
- Following up on businesses and keeping track of progress in your designated area; and
- Providing ongoing and regular communication with your supervisor.

This role will give you a valuable opportunity to enter a number of buildings within the City of Sydney LGA and enable you to visit sites that are otherwise inaccessible to the public. Previous field surveyors undertaking Planning and Architecture degrees have found the experience to be extremely useful.
- Minimum of four days per week availability, during office hours, Monday to Friday.
- All required training will be provided prior to commencing the role.

**Selection Criteria**:

- A undergraduate degree in, or current enrolment in a Planning, Architecture, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) degree or similar;
- An ability to understand and interpret floor plans and an awareness of land use issues relating to spatial characteristics of the central area of the city;
- Very strong time management skills, in particular an ability to think broadly and balance competing priorities in a complex and high volume work environment;
- Capacity and willingness to work as part of a team;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to provide clear advice, negotiate effectively, and interact with a broad range of staff, the private sector and other stakeholders; and
- Demonstrate a commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity, Occupational Health and Safety and Cultural Diversity principles.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Experience in customer service or a sales related position;
- Excellent verbal English skills and ability to communicate professionally with business people; and
- Experience in using GIS software and an understanding of spatial data.
- Mandarin or Cantonese speaking is beneficial.
