The Gender Affirming Surgery Service Peer Advisor will be responsible for co-leading the design and development of the SA Statewide Gender Affirming Surgery Service. Services are developed and planned with consumers to ensure a culturally safe, person-centred service. It also includes the development of effective partnerships both internally and externally and involves education of SALHN staff and others intersecting with the service.

**About the Role**:
Duties for the role will include:

- Facilitating consumer engagement to understand needs around gender affirming care
- Visiting other sites where gender affirming care and gender affirming surgery is delivered to inform the design and development of services
- Engaging with hospital administrative, medical, nursing and surgical leadership staff to understand the enablers, barriers, and constraints for service development
- Incorporating the elements of consumer input into the service design
- Advocating, negotiating, liaising and co-ordinating with health, welfare and educational organisations and other government and non-government and local organisations to support effective services

**About you**:
To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Mental Health First Aid training
- A relevant qualifications or experience in Community Engagement
- Experience in working in a health care role with gender-diverse individuals
- The ability to advocate, negotiate and use effective conflict resolution skills
- Experience in the review and development of operational procedures and processes
