**About the branch**
Workforce Capability and Assurance provides a key enabling function, supporting the development of agency capability and providing the agency with the assurance that it continues to meet its legislative obligations. The branch is responsible for the delivery of all human resource and people strategies, as well as protecting the agency, its people and its capabilities through an integrated protective security and integrity function. Workforce Capability and Assurance supports employee wellbeing, as well as provides critical support to intelligence operations by oversighting the agency’s use of certain powers, ensuring legislative compliance and contributing to operational outcomes.

**About the role**
The Policy and Innovation Advisor is a generalist position within the wider Security and Integrity Team, comprising of Physical Security, Personnel Security, Ongoing Suitability and Governance, Integrity Intelligence and Integrity Investigations. The occupant of this position will provide support to the various teams within Security and Integrity and will liaise, engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and provide advice regarding protective security and integrity matters.

The Policy and Innovation Advisor assists the Security and Integrity Team with the;
- Development and management of the ACIC protective security and integrity strategies, policies and procedures.
- Coordination, development and implementation of protective security and integrity related projects.
- Development, coordination and implementation of risk management strategies.
- Development and management of the ACIC’s communications materials positively influencing the ACIC’s security culture.
- Development, management, review and reporting in accordance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).

The Policy and Innovation Advisor is responsible for providing strategic and operational protective security support to the Assistant Director, Policy & Innovation and the broader Security and Integrity Team. The occupant will assist in the development and implementation of innovative systems to support the streamlining of protective security and integrity processes and procedures, as well as contributing to the governance management of protective security and integrity at the ACIC.
- Demonstrates experience in the provision of protective security practices, preferably in a government or law enforcement context.
- Has a well-developed understanding of and experience in the implementation of risk management principles.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the applicable legislative and policy frameworks, including the Protective Security Policy Framework and the Information Security Manual.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and effectively engage with colleagues, senior managers and external stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Has experience in drafting Policy, Guidelines and Procedures.
- Can develop and deliver training to a wide audience.
- Considers and effectively manages competing priorities and to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
