About the Pharmacy Department

Cabrini Health Pharmacy Departments are located at Malvern and Brighton and provide a range of patient centred pharmacy services to Cabrini patients, including clinical pharmacy, dispensing, procurement, sterile and cytotoxic manufacturing and clinical trials management.

We advocate the Quality Use of Medications which involves safe, appropriate, effective and cost effective use of medications across the continuum of care. Our pharmacy team includes pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, store persons and administrative staff.

About the roles

Pharmacy Technicians work at Cabrini Malvern and Cabrini Brighton and support the Pharmacy team.

For Grade 1 Pharmacy Technicians - This is an excellent opportunity to learn in a supportive environment with on the job training provided by our knowledgeable and supportive experienced pharmacy team.

This role will open the door to give you the chance to develop a Pharmacy career. There is an opportunity to study for a relevant Technical certificate; e.g. Certificate III Health services / Pharmacy Support down the track.

For Grade 2 Pharmacy Technicians - Will provide assistance and support to the Pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications and sterile preparations, plus ensuring drugs are stored safely and appropriately.

For Grade 3 Pharmacy Technicians - they are senior and provide leadership to the Grade 1 and Grade 2 Pharmacy Technicians, and have autonomy with the team structure. (Also does Grade 2 responsibilities.)

For Grade 4 Pharmacy Technicians - They are the Team Leads, responsible for the management, leadership and training of junior Pharmacy Technicians in the preparation and dispensing of drugs and general activities in the provision of the Pharmacy service. At Cabrini, senior pharmacy technicians manage the chemotherapy drug compounding, a vital service for our oncology department & patients.

For all grades - The work hours are rostered & maybe across a seven day work week, but predominantly on weekdays.

About you

Experienced Grade 2 to Grade 4 Pharmacy Technicians are welcome to submit their interest too

You will have:
- A positive attitude and great work ethic with a team focus.- Previous pharmacy experience and / or previous experience in a hospital setting - desirable.- No experience in chemotherapy and / or IV compounding is required. On the job training provided.- Well-developed computer and communication skills.- Ability to maintain excellent levels of customer service.

Cabrini is a healthcare provider that is captured by the COVID-19 and seasonal influenza vaccination requirements released by the Victorian government. It is a condition of employment that all staff receive the required vaccines, unless they have a relevant medical exemption. Vaccination evidence or evidence of a medical contraindication must be provided prior to commencement.

As per Cabrini policy, a mandatory copy of a current (under 12 months) police record check must be provided prior to the commencement date.
