**The opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity to lead our Corporate Governance Branch.

The purpose of this role is to set the direction, priorities, and objectives of the branch. The role also supports stakeholders with effective governance, risk, and compliance management that drives a strong governance culture at Council.

You will be central to monitoring, reviewing and revising systems, policies and procedures that underpin effective corporate governance.

This role provides the opportunity for you to make significant change for the organisation by leading the strategic and operational direction of the branch, while effectively driving accountability and performance.

It's essential you have the skills and experience to foster strong stakeholder relationships and are able to interpret legislation and communicate the information to broad audiences.

Given the role has a diverse portfolio of functions, it's critical this leadership position role models a high level of integrity and transparency and leads by example. You will be someone who takes governance and business risk seriously in each decision made.

As the Corporate Governance Branch works within an ever-evolving industry, extensive experience within corporate governance is essential. Staying across legislation, market trends, and applicable industry platforms will be critical to ensure currency in processes. Drawing on your extensive experience in governance, compliance, reporting, strategic planning, financial management and people leadership, you will show dedication to making a positive difference in Council and the community. The Corporate Governance Manager reports to the Organisational Services Director and is based in the City Administration Centre, Logan Central.
- Elements of the role include: _
- developing, executing, and monitoring compliance and governance
- ensuring compliance with all workplace health and safety statutes, regulations, prescribed procedures, obligations, and responsibilities
- constructing, implementing and fine-tuning methods, processes, procedures/systems to enhance effectiveness and meet branch objectives
- leading best practice, continuous improvement, and innovation at process and procedure level
- identifying, building, and maintaining relationships with Councillors, the Executive Leadership Team, and key stakeholders
- monitoring and reviewing external policy papers and providing relevant advice
- providing regular reporting to relevant stakeholders with advice on emerging trends and potential implications
- displaying high level, engaging interpersonal skills to communicate complex concepts in plain language to stakeholders.
- Minimum requirements of the role include: _
- minimum 15 years' experience within a similar environment
- strong, yet personable leadership experience with a focus on cultural transformation and growth
- high level of integrity and accountability
- tertiary qualification in business, public administration, or legal (preferred)
- high level communication, negotiation, and engagement skills
- extensive contemporary commercial experience in corporate meetings and registers, governance, risk and compliance, integrity and information and insurance management roles in a government and/or private sector
- demonstrated ability to lead and drive business planning and implementation processes
- current 'C' class drivers' licence
- current Blue Card for working with children or ability to obtain
- ability to receive a satisfactory result for a National Police History Check
