**The role**
The Drafting Manager leads the drafting and documentation function and provides effective leadership, management, and operational oversight. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will ensure the accurate and efficient processing of new housing files in accordance with relevant planning and building codes.

**Responsibilities**
- Oversee and direct the design and drafting team to produce all drawings and plans, while ensuring these meet the set quality, quantity, and time targets
- Forecast and monitor pre-build planning schedules, allocating cost and resources to ensure duration targets are achieved internally and via external service providers
- Develop and implement strategies to manage costs on each build and achieve costing targets
- Develop and implement sustainable systems and processes that support accuracy in design and documentation, facilitating external approvals in accordance with relevant planning and building codes
- Provide insight into build methodologies and detailing for accuracy in plans and cost effective built form
- Act as a point of contact to resolve design and documentation issues as between clients, external service providers, and approval channels
- Oversee compliance of plans and builds to ensure they meet the National Construction codes and Australian Standard Codes
- Development of employees, including feedback and coaching; and communication of performance objectives

**To be successful you will bring**:

- At least 10 years’ experience in a senior operational role in the housing and construction industry
- Qualifications in Building Design/Architect
- Working knowledge of the building and construction industry, including strong knowledge of the National Construction and Australian Standard Codes
- Strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong commercial acumen
- Strategic thinker and able to deliver outcomes
- A willingness for self-develop and continuous learning
- Ability to motivate and develop teams of people
- Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and build positive relationships
