**The Role**

The
**Billing Clerk** position sits within the broader administration team of the Medical Program. Reporting to the Practice Manager, this newly created role is designed to manage and improve the organisation’s Medicare billing process which includes:

- Overseeing all patient billing to ensure they are completed accurately
- Reconciling complex payment rejections
- Undertaking patient account recovery functions (in liaison with the Finance Department)
- Actively monitoring and implementing any relevant Medicare updates/changes and communicating them to key stakeholders
- Providing training and upskilling to the administration team
- Consultation with GP team to identify correct use of item numbers and maximum claim benefit

**About You**

You will be a Medicare whizz, confident in Medicare billing practices most likely from experience working within a general practice setting or similar. You’ll also be patient and persistent - you know resolving billing/claiming issues with Medicare can sometimes take a while. Your detail-oriented nature means you are always up-to-date with the latest in billing changes, and you will seek out engaging ways of imparting that knowledge to your colleagues helping to build their skill level and accuracy too. You will also be experienced in developing & implementing systems for ongoing quality improvement.

**Desired**: Tertiary qualification in Health Administration and/or Bookkeeping

The
**Billing Clerk** position is offered on a
** 0.6 fte part time basis (15.2hr p/wk)**, with no weekends required.
