**THE ROLE**

The After-Hours Child Protection Service (AHCPS) is a state-wide service based in metropolitan Melbourne.

All urgent child protection matters that are received outside core business hours, at weekends or on public holidays, are responded to and managed by this service.

In this team, you will receive and assess new reports of alleged child abuse or neglect and conduct urgent visits to assess the risk and safety of a child whilst operating on a rotating roster that includes day, afternoon and night shifts.

Advanced child protection practitioners work with more complex cases and situations. You need a minimum of two years case work experience in child and family social work, preferably in child protection.

**As a casual employee you will be expected to participate in the after hours roster on a regular basis, completing all shifts including night, afternoon and day.**

**ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE**

**_ 1. Critical Assessment and Reflection_**

1.1 Risk assessment and analysis - gathers information through a variety of sources and technologies in order to identify, articulate, and plan for the risks relating to each situation. Applies a strong forensic lens, and professional judgement, to analyse the available evidence.

1.2 Case planning review and case management - draws insights from assessment and analysis to formulate a meaningful and effective case plan, and reviews case progress and outcomes. Co-ordinates and leads the planning, review, and management of casework within DFFH and across other agencies and services.
