About the role

Reporting to the Placement Supervisor, Foster Care Services, the Placement Coordinator plays a central role in our mission to provide stable and nurturing homes for children in need. The Placement Coordinator will liaise with staff of the Matching and Allocation Team (DCP) and the Foster Care Services team to receive and process referrals of children who may be considered for a placement with LC Foster Carers. The role works closely with these teams to ensure the best possible placement outcomes for each child.

The duties of this role include:

- Liaise with staff of the Matching and Allocation Team (DCP) and the Foster Care Services team to receive and process referrals of children who may be considered for a placement with LC Foster Carers.
- Collaborate closely with these teams to ensure the best possible placement outcomes for each child.
- Work diligently to assess and match children with suitable foster homes, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Monitor and support foster families, providing necessary resources and assistance.
- Respond appropriately to DCP Placement Services Unit.

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Abilities:

- Knowledge and experience of foster care services.
- Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing foster carers.
- High level of interpersonal skills in dealing with the public and other organisations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds.
- A sound knowledge of the effects of trauma and abuse, attachment issues, child development and behaviour management in relation to children in care.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills with the ability to provide immediate responses on a tight deadline.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Strong team work focus.
- Competence in using a personal computer, internet and electronic communications.
- Ability to work within the Lutheran Care Vision and Values.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a NDIS Workers Screening Check, a DHS Working With Children Check, as well as a current Safe Environments for Children & Young People certificate. You must hold a current and unrestricted South Australian Driver’s License and possess a registered roadworthy vehicle available for work use (employees reimbursed for work travel).
