**About the role**

Town of Mosman Park is a small and vibrant local government, focused on connecting with our close-knit community between river and sea.

We are looking for a passionate and hardworking Manager Parks and Environment to join our team at the Town. In this role, you’ll make a real impact on the everyday lives of people within our community by achieving important outcomes for Mosman Park to grow and flourish.

**Tasks and responsibilities**

The Manager Parks and Environment is a key role within the Operations team and is responsible for developing and maintaining all parks, gardens, street trees and open spaces. You will be critical in helping our community move towards a more sustainable future. You will work to ensure that Mosman Park’s natural environment and landscape are clean, diverse, beautiful, accessible and protected.

You will lead a diverse team of operational and technical staff in delivering high-quality and responsive planning, environmental, technical works and works for the benefit of the community. You will also manage service contractors to ensure our parks, reserves, and streetscapes services are kept at a high quality and standard for the Town’s residents and visitors.

You will contribute to annual planning and work programming and forge strong relationships with key stakeholders, contractors and the high-profile community. The successful applicant will also oversee Council’s Street Tree Masterplan implementation and provide advice on all aspects of amenity horticulture.

**Skills and experience**

The successful applicant will possess:

- Qualifications in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Environmental Management, or other related disciplines will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, work collaboratively and develop people.
- Highly effective prioritisation skills, considering both internal and external pressures.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results aligned to strategies and manage complex, sensitive and politically charged situations.
- Demonstrated experience in capital works in the public realm and sound contract management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to build effective working relationships.
- A passion for development, leadership, and excellence.
