Melbourne City Centre, Australia Essential Services Commission Full time

Position details
The Regulatory Reform Advisor leads and manages complex regulatory reform projects. They undertake policy, legal and economic research and analysis to inform reforms to the Victorian energy sector.
Making effective energy regulation is crucial to support a fair and equitable transition of Victoria's energy system to net-zero emissions. It is more important than ever for Victorian energy regulations to meet the technological and policy changes facing the sector, particularly for retailers, distributors and transmission companies.
Households and businesses are also changing the way they use electricity and gas networks. There is a growing need for new transmission networks in Victoria, and consumer-focused rules for energy retailing continue to be crucial for building trust in the market.
The Regulatory Reform Advisor leads and proactively manages complex economic and energy policy issues, identifying suitable options and solutions. They lead stakeholder engagement with representatives from energy businesses, customers and customer groups, and government agencies to develop clear and influential advice and solutions. This includes collaborating with other teams in the division to ensure energy codes can be implemented effectively and promote compliance.
This role would suit someone who has experience in regulation or in the energy sector, and wants to deliver positive outcomes for consumers. They would be enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment and across a wide range of complex policy issues. An understanding of regulatory reform processes and of the energy retail, distribution or transmission sectors is highly desirable.
Please refer to the attached position description for the principal functions and key selection criteria.
This is a two-year fixed term role.
