**Role Description/Criteria**

St Thomas Aquinas Primary School seeks a Koorie Education Worker to support our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and our school community.

This is a designated position for applicants Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background. (Exemption A103/2012)

This is a 0.6 FTE contract position with the contract concluding at the end of the school year - January 28, 2024.

Applicants will be required to:

- Provide educational and cultural support to indigenous students at St Thomas Aquinas School.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate with students, their families / carers and the local Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrate their ability to communicate with school principals and staff.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to improving learning outcomes for Aboriginal students.
- Support the development of partnerships between students, parents, community and school and other educational organisations to enhance positive connections and working relationships.
- Assist in the development of and promotion of Koorie student support initiatives and Koorie inclusive curriculum.

Applicants should have a Certificate 4 in Education Support or equivalent or be willing to undertake study or be a pre-service teacher currently enrolled in an education course at university.

Salary and conditions are outlined in the Victorian Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2018. Salary classification is dependent upon experience, duties and qualifications.
