**Your new role**

A key appointment in our Faculty of Health Sciences, the Dean Indigenous Engagement is instrumental in informing and guiding the faculty on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and engagement, Indigenous staff, and Indigenous student recruitment and success.

Fundamental to the role will be working in partnership with other key leaders across the university including the faculty leadership group, Dean Indigenous roles in other faculties, and other stakeholders to provide advice and support in relation to any aspects of the faculty’s operations in which an Indigenous perspective or engagement strategy is required.

**Outcomes for the Dean role include**:

- leading the development and implementation of the faculty’s Indigenous engagement strategy
- creating pathway opportunities for Indigenous students to participate and succeed in courses offered by the faculty
- developing pathway opportunities leading to employment serving Indigenous communities whilst supporting the provision of healthcare in those communities
- providing input to curriculum development and support and training in Indigenous engagement to academic staff.

This role is being offered in a full-time continuing (permanent) capacity.

Curtin’s Faculty of Health Sciences has four academic schools that deliver a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and higher degree by research (HDR) courses. The four academic Schools are Curtin Medical School, Curtin School of Allied Health, Curtin School of Nursing and Curtin School of Population Health. Together, the four schools educate more health professionals than any other Western Australian tertiary institution.
