As the Blue Team Manager, you're not just managing a cybersecurity defence team - you're leading a modern-day guard that protects millions of Australians from ever-evolving cyber threats. Whether you are currently an IT manager, cybersecurity coordinator, or a network security specialist, we invite you to step into this exciting role that blends leadership, strategy, and a deep dive into the world of telecommunications and cybersecurity defence.
**Responsibilities**
- Hire, mentor, and develop an outstanding team of security engineers, cultivating an environment that encourages continuous learning and growth.
- Develop defence strategies tailored to the unique security requirements of a telco, creating solutions as varied and dynamic as the threats they are designed to counter.
- Take the helm in assessing our existing security controls, processes, and systems, recommending improvements to reinforce our digital bulwark.
- Collaborate closely with our Red Team during offensive testing exercises and purple teaming to identify enhancements in detection and control measures, aiming to strengthen our defences.
- Champion proactive threat hunting in the realm of telecommunications, developing a strong understanding of Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), of potential adversaries ranging from small-scale hackers to sophisticated nation-state actors.
- Encourage continuous learning within your team, ensuring they are abreast of the latest trends in cybersecurity threats and the countermeasures against them.
- Infuse a strong security culture and awareness across the organization, fostering a sense of collective responsibility in defending our digital frontier.
- Provide a sense of psychological safety within your team, modelling the importance of positive thinking, conflict de-escalation, and work-life balance.
- Prepare compelling reports and presentations for senior management, spotlighting security risks, the effectiveness of our controls, and our triumphant progress on security initiatives.
**Knowledge and experience**
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in cybersecurity, or a related field.
- A track record as a member of defensive security, security analysis, or similar teams, with experience leading security teams.
- Experience working in a telecommunications company, with a robust understanding of the global threat landscape.
- Understanding of frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and awareness of threat hunting methodologies (TaHiTI, PEAK. Sqrrl Threat Hunting Reference Model)
- Amazing written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in translating complex technical findings into understandable, actionable insights.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud providers - GCP, AWS, Azure.
- Ability to make sound decisions in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge, with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
- Relevant qualifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator), or a related field.
- Multilingual proficiency in more than two languages, preferably spanning different language families (e.g., Indo-European, Sino-Tibetan, Afroasiatic, etc.), to facilitate better global threat intelligence understanding and cooperation.
