**JOB PURPOSE**:
To perform operational and tactical work to meet plant transportation and shipping deliverables.

**JOB DUTIES**:
Working under the direction of the Transportation Parts Supervisor ensure shipments are consolidated efficiently and shipped on time to dealers and customers. Perform tasks to improve inbound and outbound material flow. Using the CPS Guiding Principles, participate in continuous improvement projects:

- Manage Inbound shipments to Support our Parts Operations DC’s
- Recommend and deploy transportation/shipping methods to better optimize flow of material
- Educates dealers and customers on best consolidation and shipping methods
- Daily monitoring of WIP (work in process) to reduce downstream issues relating to holds on material
- React to RCCA process as it relates to delivery performance
- Support efforts to improve carrier quality and container scheduling and availability
- Create and maintain shipping records
- Provide assistance to other departments on import/export related issues
- Support and arrange parts return shipments to suppliers/dealers and return shipments from dealers
- Transportation and damaged cargo claims processing

Investigate root causes and perform corrective action to resolve transportation issues. File carrier loss and damaged freight claims and monitor, analyze and perform root cause corrective actions to resolve freight non-compliance issues.

Provides tactical management for inventory levels and the daily operations in the transportation and dispatch areas. Coordinates all movement of parts by land, sea and air in the most cost efficient manner. Acts as an advisor by proposing consolidations/shipping instructions and finalize shipment details with dealers and customers both prior to orders being placed and after finished product is ready to ship.

Schedules customer and dealer shipments by common carrier and administers returnable container programs. Performs tasks that support carrier collaboration, smooth operation of consolidation, coordination of third party logistics services, plant site material logistics, and managing supermarkets and kitting areas with finished goods inventory. Responsible for optimizing consolidation and transportation throughout the plant site, ensuring availability of needed resources, to include operating personnel and material handling equipment, always working to eliminate traffic bottlenecks.

Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:

- Knowledge and understanding of 6 Sigma principles
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Some training in Supply Chain and/or Logistics equivalent with at least 2 years relevant experience in transportation or shipping or related field job experience
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, organization and communication skills
- Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures
- Good Knowledge of shipping incoterms, import/export documentation and handling procedures
- Systematic and good record keeping and filing to allow quick retrieval of information when required.

**BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE**:

- Experience in Freight forwarding / Supply Chain / Logistics or Transportation Management an Advantage but not required
- Material distribution experience
- Knowledge of shipping or transportation process handling
- IT proficiency in using MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Words)
- Good analytical skill and capable of working independently
