**PURPOSE **The Library Technician will work to ensure that teachers and
students are provided with access to whatever digital and hard copy
resources they need in order to teach and learn the curriculum
relevant to them. The Library Technician is also responsible for
ensuring staff and students know about the resources and that they
have the skills to access them.

**ENVIRONMENT **This is a permanent part time position worked across 42 weeks of
the year. The span of hours will be 12.30pm to 4.30pm Monday to
Friday.

**KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Maintaining our various collections, including physical, print material and digital

resources. This will include processes such as receiving and processing new items,
cataloguing and data management, stocktaking and weeding, shelving and shelf
- reading, tidying and maintaining the physical space, producing bookplates and
labels, and processes around making items shelf-ready and accessible.
- Supporting acquisition processes as part of the Senior School Library team, including

suggesting items for purchase that support the development of a diverse collection
that meets our community’s needs, supports the Curriculum, and promotes reading
for pleasure for our Senior School students. Knowledge of current themes and trends
in Young Adult literature would be beneficial in this role, plus a willingness to engage
with Young Adult literature as a reader.
- Staffing of our circulation desk, including dealing with enquiries from students and

staff, making book recommendations, assisting with information provision enquiries,
handling loans and holds, and digital support and access queries.
- Maintaining processes around overdue items, including generating and manipulating

relevant reports and liaising with Homeroom teachers and Year Level Coordinators
regarding students with overdue items.
- Promotion and visual marketing, such as producing displays and contributing to our

library website (LibGuides) and library newsletters.
- Processes around staff and students starting at and leaving Lowther Hall, including

access to library systems and databases.
- Online content management: supporting students, teachers and faculty with digital

content across different platforms.
- Collaborating within the library team and supporting the priorities of the different

library staff across different areas of the school.
- Assist with resourcing specific areas of the School’s Learning Management System,
- Ensure that the diversity of all children, including (but not limited to) the needs of

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and
linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disabilities, and children who are
vulnerable needs are met
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
- Other duties as directed by the Education Resource Manager

**TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS**
- An understanding of the Lowther Hall context
- An appropriate qualification or equivalent experience
- A proven record as an outstanding Library Technician
- Knowledge of library management systems and relevant databases
- Knowledge and experience in copyright law
- Excellent organisational, administrative and presentation skills
- A current and appropriate WWC
- An understanding of child safe standards
- Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Certificate - with a commitment to on-going training
- Current anaphylaxis management qualification
- Current asthma management qualification
- Willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Record Check upon appointment
