Animal Carer

The amazing team at Hairy Hounds Playground are looking to add 1-2 carers to the team.

Operating for 16 years, we are dedicated to providing a professional, caring service with a gentle approach to our clients, both 2 and 4 legged.

We are looking for carers who can offer a minimum of 2-3 shifts per week (5-7 hours), and who are flexible.

**The Role**

You will be working with groups of dogs in a day care environment. Supervising groups of dogs, providing enrichment, providing direction and leadership to the group.
- keeping you, your colleagues and the dogs safe
- cleaning
- health checks of the dogs
- and more cleaning

As your experience and knowledge of HHPG increases, there are opportunities to gain experience in other areas of the business such as day training, group and solo walking

**Prerequisits**
- past experience working with groups of dogs - doggy day care experience will be highly regarded (please note, owning your own dog / growing up with dogs does not count as experience in this role)
- professional, motivated attitude
- able to work both autonomously and in a small team
- drivers license (as you will be finishing shifts in the dark and we are based in an industrial area, for your own safety a car / license is required)
- police check will need to be provided upon employment
- carers need to be fit and able to stay on their feet for 5-7 hours. This role is an active role.

**Training**

The first 3 training shifts will be held in the morning, 6.30am - 12pm and subsequent shifts will alternate between 10-4pm and 12-7pm

**Applicants**

Please note that we do not use force in our training techniques and therefore those who practice aversive methods need to understand that they will need to adapt in order to successfully (and happily) work at HHPG.

Applicants need to be willing to work hard, be alert at all times and be willing to keep themselves and their colleagues and the dogs in their care safe at all times.

Applicants need to understand that working with dogs is hard work (yes, rewarding also) but that cleaning, getting dirty, cleaning up after the dogs etc is hard work and not always fun

**Salary**: $21.13 - $32.00 per hour
