**Metro South Health** is the major provider of public healthcare services, and health education and research, in the Brisbane south side, Logan, Redlands and Scenic Rim regions.
We are looking for an Apprentice Plumber to join our maintenance team
**Purpose of the role**
- To provide an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in a Certificate III in Plumbing Apprenticeship through completing on the job training with Metro South Health and completing an approved course of formal training though a registered training provider.
- This role is responsible for the acquiring skills to perform the day to day operations of an Apprentice Plumber, at each relevant stage of the apprenticeship program, in the delivery of planned and corrective maintenance activities to plant, infrastructure and equipment in order to maintain Metro South Health (MSH) facilities in a safe and functional condition ensuring all work is performed in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner to prescribed quality standards meeting customer needs.
- As an Apprentice Plumber you will learn how to select install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain plumbing and water systems and equipment in hospitals and health buildings.

- Abide by terms and conditions of the training & employment contract
- Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
- Commit to and complete the RTO endorsed training plan in the time allocated
- Enrol and attend vocational training; complete theory-based assessments and demonstrate skills through competency-based assessments to the best of your ability
- Carry out work assigned in; nominated normal hours, overtime or shift as so directed.
- Comply with legislation relevant to your trade, in particular the Apprenticeship & Traineeship Act and the Work Health & Safety Act 2011.
- Commit to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care by actively participating in safety and quality practices.
- Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds, gender, identity, ages or abilities.
- Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Mandatory qualifications, professional registration and other requirements
- Enrolment into Certificate III in Plumbing will be arranged by the employer.
- Registration with an Australian Apprenticeship Network Provider (AANP) will be arranged by the employer.
- Whilst a mandatory qualification is not required to commence in this position, the following is highly desirable ;
- Possession of a General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle, and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
- This position may be required to travel and work across the Metro South Health which includes Logan Hospital, Redland Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, QEII Jubilee Hospital, Beaudesert Hospital and various community sites.
**It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19 Health Employment Directive No. 12/21 and Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.**
- Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD): It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment (Health Employment Directive No. 01/16):
o measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)
- varicella (chicken pox)
- pertussis (whooping cough)
- hepatitis B
- tuberculosis
- Aged Care Check - Potential applicants are advised that the Aged Care Act 1997 requires Queensland Health employees and volunteers of aged care services to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate the applicants obtaining the above checks.
