The role you could play

As a Family Violence Specialist Case Manager, you will work with women and their children impacted by domestic and family violence, using a strengths-based, trauma responsive, violence-informed approach to develop and implement client-led case plans that prioritise safety, risk management, and long-term well-being. You will support clients in achieving self-determined goals while maintaining a commitment to keeping the perpetrator’s actions in view and holding them accountable. This role aligns with The Salvation Army Family Violence Case Management Framework.

Your key responsibilities
- Risk and Safety Planning: Conduct comprehensive, continuous assessments of clients' needs, risks, and circumstances, to guide safety planning and risk management.
- Keeping the Perpetrator in View: Develop interventions that address risk by holding perpetrators accountable, promoting victim safety, and supporting the wellbeing of children.
- Person-Centred, Trauma-Informed Support: Provide case management support aligned with The Salvation Army’s Family Violence Case Management Practice Guide, fostering a safe, person-centred, and trauma-informed approach. Establish effective, supportive relationships that prioritise the agency and self-determination of each client.
- Holistic Case Planning: Develop individualised, comprehensive case plans in partnership with clients that incorporate risk management, safety planning, and a range of tailored interventions addressing immediate needs and longer-term goals.
- Integrated, Multi-Agency Collaboration: Facilitate access to resources and support services, maintaining a collaborative, multi-agency approach to case management that leverages partnerships and community services to provide wraparound care and advocacy.
- Ongoing Client Engagement: Engage regularly with clients to monitor progress, adapting case plans and safety strategies as needed to reflect updated risk assessments and foster resilience, safety, and stability for victim-survivors and their families.

There are two permanent full-time positions; located in Dulwich Hill and Surry Hills, on Gadigal Land, NSW.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Level 5 Award.
- Degree qualification in social work, welfare, community development, or a related field, OR significant sector experience in family and domestic violence.
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, safety planning, and perpetrator accountability strategies within the context of family and domestic violence.
- Experience implementing current best-practice principles to ensure risk-informed, non-collusive practices.
- A national police record check and relevant state Working with Children Check are required.
- Working in a crisis or accommodation provision setting.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call roster.
- Ability to attend interagency meetings and contribute to collaborative, risk-responsive service delivery.
