**Current opportunity**

As an Assistant Manager you will use your strong people leadership, organisational, analytical, investigative and communication skills to perform a critical quality assurance and monitoring role to support our team processing conflict checks and personal independence matters.

**About the team**

The team currently consists of 5 local resources in Australia and we have recently engaged the first of our offshore processing team, all of whom report to the Assistant Manager. Most of the team are located in Brisbane and all work remotely on a regular basis.

As the Assistant Manager, you will be part of, and lead, a strong and cohesive team where you will use your skills to:

- Manage and provide direction, support and mentorship to the central risk team in relation to conflict checks and staff personal independence matters
- Work closely with internal stakeholders on auditor independence consultations and conflicts queries to ensure compliance
- Work closely with the Director and Head of National Risk
- Monitor various processes within the central risk team:

- Daily metrics and resourcing issues
- MFS outstanding conflict checks
- Non-Assurance Services Threats Forms that have not been approved
- Personal independence items - Independence Declarations, Register items, Lateral Partner hire declarations and onboarding
- Provide input into and liaise with the central risk team to identify and implement process improvements
- Liaise with the central risk team members to develop relevant learning material for the business
- Communicate broader independence, risk and ethics projects and initiatives to the central risk team as appropriate
- Hire and train new central risk team members
- Work with the Director to conduct performance appraisals with the team

**What you’ll need to succeed**
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a Professional Services firm
- Outstanding leadership skills and proven experience managing a small team
- Hands on approach, willing to action day to day tasks to relieve pressure points for the team
- Knowledge of auditor independence rules and regulations or conflicts of interests in a professional services firm is an advantage
