**Positive Behavior Support Practitioner Position description**

We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Positive Behavior Support Practitioner to join our team on a full-time basis, working 5 days a week. As a Positive Behavior Support Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing behavior support plans for individuals with disabilities, ensuring a safe and positive environment.

**Responsibilities**

**Behavior Assessment and Planning**:

- Conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with individuals with disabilities, their families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop individualised behavior support plans.
- Implement evidence-based strategies and interventions to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Regularly review and update behavior support plans based on ongoing assessment and feedback.
- Implement Restrictive Practices in accordance with Safeguard requirements.

**Training and Consultation**:

- Provide training and consultation to support staff, caregivers, and families on positive behavior support strategies and techniques.
- Conduct workshops and training sessions to promote understanding and implementation of behavior support plans.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent implementation of behavior support strategies across various settings.

**Data Collection and Analysis**:

- Collect and analyze data on individual behaviors to monitor progress and make data-driven decisions.
- Utilise appropriate data collection tools and technology to track behavior trends and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
- Generate reports and summaries to communicate outcomes and progress to stakeholders.

**Collaboration and Teamwork**:

- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, psychologists, and support staff, to ensure a holistic approach to behavior support.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and individual planning sessions to provide insights and recommendations.
- Collaborate with families and external service providers to establish effective communication channels and promote coordinated support.

**Documentation and Compliance**:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of behavior support plans, assessments, and progress notes.
- Adhere to organisational policies, ethical guidelines, and relevant legislation in all behavior support practices.
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy of individuals' personal and sensitive information.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Mental health or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in conducting functional behavior assessments and developing behavior support plans.
- Strong knowledge of positive behavior support principles, applied behavior analysis (ABA), and evidence-based intervention strategies.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, particularly in the context of behavior support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong data collection and analysis skills, with proficiency in relevant software and tools.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, ethical guidelines, and best practices in behavior support.
- Proficiency in Google suite.
- Passion for making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
