**Overview**

The key objective of the Technical Manager Data Linkage is to facilitate efficient access to high quality linked data to support research projects and programs of research that informs policy and program evaluation and analysis in accordance with SA NT DataLink’s policies and procedures and State, Territory and Commonwealth Government legislative requirements. The position requires strong leadership, technical, problem-solving and analytical skills, the ability to interpret data and to provide insights and recommendations.

The Government recognises the importance of enabling evidence based policy, research and data analysis through using administratively, clinical and human services collected data across multiple organisations. The Data Linkage Unit is located within Systems Performance and Services Division of SA Health and Wellbeing to undertake the development and maintenance of a data linkage system in South Australia and the Northern Territory. The position is located with SA NT DataLink at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). During 2023 SA NT DataLink will transition from a consortium to a South Australian Government agency.

The Technical Manager Data Linkage is responsible for:

- The good operation of the DLU, supporting the business operations and technical aspects of the data linkage system for SA NT DataLink and provide expert advice and consultancy in matters relating to technical aspects of the data linkage processes and protocols.
- The supervision and management of the work of staff in the Data Linkage Unit, including prioritisation and scheduling of data linkage processes and managing the related SA NT DataLink database.

All DLU staff are outposted from the Department for Health and Wellbeing. The Technical Manager Data Linkage reports operationally to the Director, SA NT DataLink and works closely with the Director, Client Services and Data Integration teams in the negotiations with data custodians and researchers on the inclusion of datasets in the linkage system, data quality and the feasibility and timing for the provision of project linkage keys.
