We currently have an opportunity for a Compliance Officer (Swimming Pools) to join the team in our Planning, Environment and Communities Department. As a Compliance Officer (Swimming Pools) you will get to administer and enforce the various Acts and Regulations under which Council is required to function, in particular swimming pool barrier inspections to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Swimming Pool Act and Regulation within Council’s Environment and Compliance Section.
- Annual salary from $63,970.40 to $83,590 (salary is dependent on qualifications, skills and experience)
- Plus 11% superannuation
- Permanent full time, 35 hours per week (A job share arrangement will be considered for this role - if applicable)

**What you'll need to be successful in the role...**
- **Grade 8**
Essential Qualifications, Licences and Experience
- Certificate IV (or currently enrolled in) in Building Surveying, local government regulatory compliance or equivalent.
- Detailed knowledge of the legislation and standards relating to swimming pools including Swimming Pools Act 1992 and Regulation 2008, and AS 1926 Parts 1 and 2
- NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate (White card) or ability to obtain
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- **Grade 9**
Essential Qualifications, Licences and Experience
- E1 Swimming Pool Certification, Bachelors’ Degree in Town Planning, Building Surveying, Environmental Health or equivalent or equivalent or;
- Extensive experience in the field of investigation and enforcement.
- NSW WorkCover Construction Induction Certificate (White card) or ability to obtain
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence
- **Grade 10**
Essential Technical Skills
- Knowledge of relevant compliance legislation in relation to swimming pool safety, swimming pool compliance certificates, development assessment, land use and compliance, lawful and unlawful building construction, environmental management on development sites and penalty notices.
- Demonstrated experience in following procedure in complex investigations including interviewing witnesses and offenders, evidence collections and recording, enforcement, appearance in court and liaison with legal representatives.
- Ability to rationalise complex compliance issues and write detailed breach reports recommending direction for the resolution of matters.
- Ability to prepare statements of evidence, affidavits and represent Council as an expert witness in Local and Land and Environment Court matters.
- Demonstrated communication skills to liaise with the public, other sections of Council and legal representatives.
