**POSITION TITLE**:ELECTRICAL RAILWAY TECHNICIAN (SIGNALLING) / SIGNAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN**

**POSITION LOCATION: Victoria (AUSTRALIA)**

**REPORT TO**:Superintendent or Nominee**

**Who We Are**:
JBE Signalling are seeking an experienced Electrical Railway Technician to be part of our growing team specialising in signalling infrastructure construction and maintenance projects within the railway industry. The role will see you developing your Signal Testing skills with the support our existing highly skilled staff as well taking a leading role to delivering Signalling projects with a reputable company that strives in producing an on time and quality outcome for its customers. All applicants considered will need to meet the following criteria:
- **Minimum Requirements**:

- Relevant engineering/technical or trade qualification.
- Railway Engineering Certifications / IRSE Licencing.
- 5 Years Proven experience in Railway Electrical and Signalling.
- Ability to transfer an overseas or interstate licence.
- Proven competency in chosen field.
- Dedicated commitment to safety.
- Knowledge of and the ability to implement the principles of Rail safety management, OH&S standards and electrical codes of practice.
- Excellent team working and communications skills.
- All applicants must be willing and able to travel away from home, work on call and overtime as required.
- Ability to transfer an overseas or interstate licence to obtain a Manual driver licence.
- Work in a semi-autonomous manner in a dynamic environment with great people.
- Possession of a White / Blue card (General safety induction - construction industry) or ability to obtain one.
- Compliance to Principal contractor project site requirements.
- Support management with documents such as estimates & costing.
- Ability to pass all testing, health & safety assessments including Drug & Alcohol
- Experience in team leadership and coordination will be highly regarded.
- Experience in installation, maintenance and fault finding of signalling equipment.
- Carry out routine inspections and maintenance on the signals and track points.
- Testing and commissioning of rail signals
- Attend signalling failures to analyse, repair and report on cause of signal failures.
- Perform maintenance and installation of work on signalling and communications equipment either individually or in a team environment.
- Conformance testing associated with signalling systems.
- After-hours call out, attendance to signal system failures and incidents affecting train services.
- Construction and installation of signalling equipment and systems

- High-level communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills to work with station staff, contractors, engineers, train crews, clerical staff, yard/depot staff and train controllers.
- Be able to identify and analyse risks and make corrective actions.
- Computers skills to use and maintain administrative systems.
- Time management skills to schedule work priorities and meet deadlines.

**When & Where is the work?**

Signal maintenance technicians generally work on signalling and communication equipment to install, repair, modify, test, and investigate the signalling equipment and infrastructure ranging from outdoor rail corridors or indoors on computer management systems.

Shifts are generally on a rotating roster - evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

**Opportunities**:
Once in the rail industry, to progress in your career, you will need to complete additional studies or authorisations based on operational and state requirements.

With experience, you could become a signalling supervisor or manager.

You may have opportunities to work with rail partners on large infrastructure projects, like the Level Crossing Removal Project, including working on the regional rail and metropolitan rail network.
