**About the Unit**

The Centre for Women’s Health Research (CWHR) is located in the Hunter Medical Research Institute building on the John Hunter Hospital Campus (1 Kookaburra Circuit, New Lambton NSW 2305). The CWHR has around 20 staff including project assistants, database assistants, statisticians, research staff, and administration staff. We’re a pretty friendly bunch - we all enjoy a good morning tea trivia session - but we’re data-driven to produce high quality research outputs (we’re research nerds, in other words).

The CWHR is one of two operational sites for the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health (ALSWH), a study jointly managed between the University of Newcastle and the University of Queensland. The Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health (ALSWH) - widely known as Women's Health Australia - is a longitudinal population-based survey which examines the health of an existing large national sample of Australian women. The study collects important health data on women across Australia through regular surveys of women in four cohorts (which encompass the adult life span), with subsequent linkage to administrative health datasets, such as Medicare and hospital data. For the Newcastle ALSWH unit embedded within the CWHR, the primary focus is concerned with data collection (i.e. development and deployment of surveys), and participant follow-up and engagement.
