**About the role**

We are looking for a **Principal Advisor** Environmental Approval **to help lead the Iron Ore business through the implementation and governance of regional environmental approvals. In this role you will assist in developing and embedding strategies to enable growth through innovation.

You will be recognized as an experienced leader within the Environmental Approvals department and act as a mentor within the group. Reporting to the Manager Environmental and Government Approvals in the State Agreement and Approval division, you will work in a collaborative community. Where integrity is key, you will lead a team of highly capable and qualified professionals whilst demonstrating your deep understanding of environmental policy and legislation.

Your stakeholder management skills will be vital in this role as you will be required to engage with a dynamic group both internal and external to the business, including Joint Ventures, State and Commonwealth Departments, industry bodies (e.g. CME), and Non-Government Organizations.

As the Principal Advisor Environmental Approval, you will be exposed to commercially confidential work on behalf of Rio Tinto therefore your due diligence is integral in this role as well as your ability to manage expectations from the multiple stakeholder groups under a time pressure.

You will have demonstrated experience in the WA based resources industry, or senior regulatory approvals role, demonstrating strong experience in stakeholder engagements and ability to influence and drive change through innovation.

An Environmental Science or related Degree is preferable for this role.
