About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Ministry Assistant to oversee and coordinate community and corps-based activities, with a focus on families.

Reporting to the Corps Officer, this is a permanent part-time (10 hours per week) position based in Rockdale, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with Hay 12 (Award Free).

You will successfully- Analyse the needs of the local community using data and evidence to drive insights.- Establish programs and initiatives that respond to identified needs of vulnerable local families.- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with relevant community groups and organisations.- Monitor programs to ensure they operate within agreed budgets.- Participate in appropriate funding activities as agreed with the Corps Officer.- Build strong connections with local families accessing the community hub.- Establish a child safe, trauma-informed family connection space.- Coordinate school holiday program to cater for needs of local community.- Recruit and train volunteers.- Provide pastoral care and discipleship activities.- Identify, address and escalate any risks to clients, personnel and TSA to relevant parties.

You will have- A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army - Enrolled and active soldier of The Salvation Army - preferred- A current and valid NSW Working with Children Check.- The ability to offer pastoral assistance, to offer prayer and to explain the Christian Gospel.- Experience in a Ministry position, ideally working with children and their families.- Experience within a community setting (desirable).- The capacity to facilitate groups and work one-on-one with a particular focus e.g. faith based groups.- Experience managing volunteers or employees.
