**The Position**

This Postdoctoral position will be a joint appointment between the Wheat Biosecurity Laboratory and Protein Structural Immunology laboratories within the Division of Plant Sciences, ANU Research School of Biology.

**The Person**

The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to the Wheat Biosecurity Laboratory (led by Associate Professor Peter Solomon) conducting research to improve the current $600 to $900 million dollars loss incurred by Australian growers each year. Wheat diseases are responsible for up to 20% in yield losses and we hope to improve our understanding of how pathogens inflict disease.

The appointed postdoctoral fellow will primarily undertake research to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of disease susceptibility induced by the pathogen_ Zymoseptoria tritici _and will focus on identifying proteins causal to disease and understanding their function. The successful applicant must have previous experience working with _Zymoseptoria tritici_ using reverse genetics and protein-protein interaction techniques.
