Care Fast is seeking a compassionate, outgoing and reliable female support workers to provide support to one of its participants who requires in-home support in inner north and western suburbs of Melbourne. in Our participants are sociable and have a great personality and would like the same traits in their support workers.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Engagement in Activities**: Encourage and facilitate the participant’s involvement in activities they enjoy, such as listening to music, spending time with animals, and engaging in screen time.
- **Social Interaction**: Help the participant build friendships and social connections with peers.
- **Job Exploration**: Support the participant in exploring job opportunities and preparing for potential employment.
- **Companionship**: Provide consistent, reliable companionship to improve the participant's self-confidence and overall well-being.
- **Daily Support**: Assist with daily routines and activities, ensuring the participant is active and engaged.
- **Household Support**: Aid in managing household tasks as needed to support the participant and their family.
- **Experience**: Previous experience in a support worker role, preferably with young individuals.
- **Skills**: Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a genuine interest in the participant's hobbies and aspirations.
- **Attributes**: Compassionate, reliable, and energetic.
- **Education**: Relevant qualifications in social care or support work (preferred but not mandatory).
- **Other Requirements**: Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate the participant's needs.
- **Empathetic and Understanding**: Able to connect with the participant on a personal level.
- **Motivating**: Encourages the participant to engage in new activities and build social connections.
- **Animal Lover**: Comfortable around cats and enthusiastic about spending time with them.
- **Active and Energetic**: Able to participate in walks and other physical activities with the participant.
**Requirements**:
- Certificate IV in disability
- Experience working with people with disabilities and mobility support equipment
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with the participant and Care Fast housing manager
- Available for weekdays shift for day time and sleepover
**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour
