This wonderful, well-known charity provides families with many levels of support while their children are receiving treatment for injury or illness. And that includes keeping families together - in secure, comfortable accommodation close by the healthcare facility needed.
In 2021, the charity supported 4,890 families who stayed a total of almost 100,000 nights in three centres - two close by the CBD and the third inside the Queensland Children's Hospital. Tutoring was provided to 145 children who had missed school due to illness and close to 19,000 visitors - such as grandparents and extended family - were also accommodated.
At a time of significant need for families when they have so much on their minds that offering them a calm, ordered and appealing environment, a home away from home, where they can stay is vital. This organisation offers three such welcome refuges in inner Brisbane. Although effectively, there are three houses requiring your back-of-house supervision and support, a quality team of dedicated people work tirelessly to lessen the burden of injury or illness on a child and their family.
And that’s just as well since this is a big, busy, and far-reaching role. With funding connected to occupancy, change is constant. You will constantly review frameworks, policies and procedures to adapt them to strategic and legislative change. The ongoing implementation of quality assurance and continuous improvement frameworks, operational systems, service information and promotion mean there’s never a dull moment - and rarely two days the same in this fabulous, forward-focused role.
Ambitious and unerringly professional, with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, you offer the interpersonal attributes that encourage others to strike a rapid rapport and trust you within a very short time. Resourceful, resilient, and tenacious, you bring the amassed knowledge and understanding gained through significant experience managing accommodation operations in a charitable environment -perhaps aged care or social housing.
Or perhaps you have run operations - including accommodation and facilities - for an NFP or other charitable organisations? Wherever you gained your expansive, in-depth knowledge you know precisely what’s needed to ensure the delivery and quality of these programs is perfect for purpose.
Enthusiastic, hands-on, and can-do, but with the calm focus of a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll provide a significant contribution across state-wide strategic, compliance, quality and operational activities while also participating in a number of visionary programs and initiatives at a national level.
