**Job Summary**
Opportunity exists within the Bechtel team to work closely with our Clients on a Rio Tinto Iron Ore project in the Pilbara in Western Australia. The Information Technology (IT) Lead role is at the core of Bechtel’s project delivery model. This position will be based in Perth and will relocate to the project jobsite on a FIFO arrangement in the second half of 2024.
**Major Responsibilities**
Reporting to the Project Information Management Lead, the key deliverables of this role are to work with the Project Management Team (PMT), Client Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) team and Bechtel IS&T Management to ensure project communications, IT infrastructure and related services are fully planned, supported, and implemented to Bechtel standards. The role:
- Coordinates project computing and IT infrastructure planning to support study and project execution requirements
- Meets regularly with the Information Management Lead, PMT, Client IS&T representatives and project personnel to understand the overall project IT needs
- Expedites actions on current status, issues and resolutions in an accurate, effective and timely manner
- Provides jobsite IT infrastructure setup and closeout planning input into the Project Automation Plan (PAP) and project IS&T estimate
- Coordinates with the PIM and other IS&T personnel (project
- and corporate based) to maintain open communications and provide a customer-focused service for the analyses and resolution of IT infrastructure issues (network, hardware, software, etc.)
- Works within a standardised global support model, leveraging established global governance for IS&T services and support, change management, asset management, etc.
**Education and Experience Requirements**
Industry experience gained through a recognised degree in a STEM-related field, and/or specialised courses in IT, Engineering or related fields, and/or extensive work experience in a STEM-related field.
**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
The role requires a blend of individual leadership, customer service, and analytical and technical skills. Key attributes you bring to this role include:
- Strong ability to partner with project teams to review and understand end-to-end work processes and IS&T planning to support study and project execution
- Experience with managing people including providing mentoring and guidance
- Experience developing and monitoring budgets and scope changes that may have a cost or schedule impact
- Strong technical knowledge of a broad range of IS&T technology principles including the following: desktop and server computing, cloud computing, wired and wireless networks, construction site technology (two-way radio / push to talk; access control, etc.)
- Able to translate technical information into practical terms for discussion and presentation to broad audiences
- Demonstrate a strong safety focus and value the development and maintenance of customer relationships that clearly define expectations and responsibilities.
