**The Opportunity**

Based at the Maitland Regional Sports Complex, the **Team Leader Recreation Works (Regional Sports Complex) **is responsible for supervising and participating in the day-to-day work and functioning of a Recreation Works team. You will provide technical expertise in the area of sports turf management in the ongoing maintenance of the sports field turf surfaces at the Maitland Regional Sports Complex.

This state-of-the-art facility includes a World Athletics-certified synthetic athletics track, two natural turf international-standard playing surfaces, track and field facilities, surrounding gardens and turf areas. Maitland Regional Sports Complex is the official training base for the Newcastle Jets A-League men’s side, home base to the local premiership-winning Maitland Pickers rugby league team and is also in the running to be a temporary home base for an international women’s football team in the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament being hosted by Australia in 2023.

Further, you will supervise, support and coach staff in undertaking maintenance and renovation works whilst being responsible for modelling positive workplace behaviours and bringing safety to the forefront of the team’s day-to-day activities.

**You**

To be successful in this role you will hold a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or equivalent, have relevant industry knowledge and demonstrated experience in sports turf surface preparation on a multi-use sports turf facility. You will have contemporary experience in turf renovation practices, including experience oversowing and transitioning rye grass on couch grass playing surfaces.

You will also have demonstrated experience in the supervision, coaching and supporting of staff in their day-to-day activities. Your verbal communication skills and customer service skills will assist you in dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders. A current C class driver’s licence is essential.

The following licences/tickets are not essential but would be highly regarded:

- General Construction Induction Card
- Traffic Controller/ Implement Traffic Control Plan/ Prepare a Workzone Traffic Management Plan
- MR Driver’s Licence
- Cert IV in Leadership and Management
- Diploma in Sports Turf Management

**Benefits**

This is a permanent full-time role with a salary range of $69,553 up to $77,204 per year based on demonstrated competencies + 10.5% super. Work hours are currently 6:45am to 3:45pm, including a 30-minute overtime agreement per day (reviewed annually) which offers an additional allowance of $6,863 up to $7,618 per year.
