**About the opportunity**
As the appointee you will, under broad direction, have a significant role in integrating cybersecurity best practices into the day-to-day operations of the University. You will be responsible for coordinating cyber security and technology risk assurance activities and
providing oversight and governance over risk remediation activities, audit findings and issues in support of UWA’s overall IT risk management program, which is designed to ensure that the University’s IT systems and information assets are adequately protected. You will work closely with other technology functions and projects to proactively seek opportunities for cybersecurity advice and provide risk assessments of proposed changes and initiatives.

**About you**
To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate:

- Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
- Substantial relevant experience in IT risk management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST and the ISM, and audit processes.
- Demonstrate an extensive understanding of cyber security risks, threats, capabilities, and controls.
- Highly developed analytical skills, including the ability to identify and assess the severity and potential impact of risks and communicate risk assessment findings to risk owners outside cybersecurity in a way that consistently drives objective, fact-based decisions about risk.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple domains under strict timelines, as well as the ability to work well in a demanding, dynamic environment and meet overall objectives.
- Excellent collaborative skills and the ability to communicate risk concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences at various hierarchical levels, including the proven ability to communicate with substantial influence, establish positive relationships with peers and negotiate competing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills including excellent organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines.
- Desirable:

- Relevant industry certifications, including CRISC, ISO27001 Lead implementer, CISSP, CISM or other security/control certifications.
- Working knowledge of the higher education sector.
