**Role**:
The Assistant Principal - Director of Learning and Wellbeing Excellence Year 4 to 7 reports directly to the Principal.

Be an active member and contribute to the School Improvement Team consisting of; Principal, Sub-school Assistant Principals, Leading Teachers and Pedagogy Coaches to achieve the goals and targets in the College Strategic Plan.

In the assigned Sub school area of responsibility and accountability:

- Implement, monitor, evaluate and achieve the goals and targets of the Strategic Plan and the Annual Implementation Plan.
- Lead and develop a high performing team to support and promote excellence in teaching and learning.
- Lead the implementation of; instructional models, curriculum plans, assessment and shared high level pedagogical approaches.
- Lead the moderation of common assessment tasks, data collection and analysis and evaluation of student learning growth over time.
- Lead a consistent and sustained approach to the implementation of evidence based high impact teaching strategies to improve student achievement.
- Lead a culture of collaboration and collective responsibility to develop effective and consistent teaching practices and to improve student achievement.
- Model best teaching practice and coach staff effectively to improve student outcomes.
- Actively involve the Community in improving student learning outcome using the language of learning.
- Lead student wellbeing.

Other duties as directed by the Principal.

**Responsibilities**:
Typically, assistant principals perform one or more of the following functions:

- supervision and coordination of the work of senior curriculum or level coordinators;
- allocation of budgets, positions of responsibility and other resources within the area of responsibility;
- supervision of the delivery of teaching programs;
- management of programs to improve the knowledge and experience of staff;
- responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers and year level coordinators;
- contribute to the overall management of the school;

In addition, from 3 August 2020, to be eligible for employment in the principal class or teacher class, a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education program after 1 July 2016, must demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements. This condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian Initial Teacher Education program completed by the person.
