**Your opportunity**

The Business Data Governance Steward ensures the business unit’s data accountabilities are met through action and team awareness. You’ll be required to build the understanding and knowledge base of how data is used and ensure that knowledge is maintained.

The other purpose of this role is to drive NAB’s data capability in managing data risk. It ensures we retain confidence in data at all levels in the organisation to establish trust with our customers and regulators.

**_ The primary demands of this role initially are:_**
- Identify and classify business critical data
- Establish and maintain data quality measures for the critical data elements
- Ensure that data quality is within an acceptable tolerance
- Establish and maintain a clear understanding of dataflows (i.e., data lineage) attached to critical data elements for change impact analysis
- Create and maintain a repository for meta data related to these critical data elements
- Promote a greater focus on controls required to achieve acceptable quality and regulatory standards

**_Additional to the above:_**
- Adherence to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - Privacy) requirements
- Compliance with ethical use of data standards.
- Records Management (unstructured data) monitoring and control

There are a lot of moving parts to this hands-on role, that require a confident yet diplomatic approach. Success in this role will need someone with strong data and systems thinking - someone who can understand the complexity, while also rising above to see the bigger picture and help to join the dots.

**What you will bring**
- Minimum 7+ years' professional experience in a Data Centric or similar related role with strong business partnering across a large enterprise or professional corporate business
- Ability to build relationships and manage expectations/timelines with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in problem solving, supporting delivery of initiatives that positively change and drive business performance in a sustainable and safe manner
- Organisational change, transformation, risk, identification/classification, and/or controls expertise.
- A simple and engaging written and verbal communication style, both up and down business stream
- Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (desired)
