These roles sit within the Business Taxes team within Revenue NSW

**About the team**:
As NSW’s principal revenue agency, Revenue NSW administers state taxation and revenue for and on behalf of the people of NSW. The Payroll Tax Operations branch is responsible for maximising voluntary compliance for taxes and grants and assisting customers in meeting their obligations.

The primary purpose of the role is to review and determine Payroll Tax exclusions and exemptions within NSW and across other jurisdictions.

**Some of the other key responsibilities include**:

- ** **Determine matters relating to Payroll Tax grouping, exclusions and exemptions and ensure the outcome is in accordance with legislation, business unit policies, procedures and technical rules
- Prepare well written submissions and liaise with jurisdictions and key stakeholders on complex exclusion and exemption matters in accordance with Payroll Tax Harmonisation protocols and tax audits
- Resolve enquiries from customers and their professional representatives relating to exclusion and exemption decisions, using your knowledge, expertise and interpersonal skills to ensure customers understand your decisions
- Ability to review, research and interpret legislation, court decisions, and Revenue Rulings applicable to Payroll Tax
- Assist in the preparation of review cases where the client has objected or is appealing to the Administrative Decisions Tribunal

**To be successful in this role you will demonstrate**:

- ** **Well developed communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to effectively communicate case findings
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to problem solving
- Adaptability, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service
- Ability to review, research and interpret legislation, court decisions, and Revenue Rulings applicable to payroll tax
- Knowledge of, and experience in, payroll tax is preferred
