Afternoon Shift

Recently acquired new contracts combined with our ongoing and workflow has resulted in an opportunity to further expand our existing workforce. We seek experienced and _**Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitters/Fitter and Turners**_ to join our operations

Established over 30 years ago to service local industry of metropolitan Melbourne, Inver Engineering has developed into a substantial and respected engineering firm. Servicing businesses across the rail, steel, ports, oil & gas and manufacturing industries, we are based in Altona but out clientele are Australia wide.

**What you will do**:

- The primary focus of this role is the overhaul of train and tram gearboxes - including inspection, measurement, fitting, assembly and testing;
- Work in a team environment;
- Be responsible for the quality of your workmanship.
- Afternoon Shift:

- **_Training Period_ _**(Mon to Thurs 11am to 7:30pm, Fri 12pm to 6pm)**:

- **_Thereafter _**(Mon to Thurs 2:30pm to 11pm, Fri 12pm to 6pm)**_

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- _**Australian recognised qualifications as a Fitter and Turner, Mechanical Fitter or Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical.**_
- Previous experience in component overhauls and rebuilds ideally in rail, automotive, defense, manufacturing, aviation, or other like industries.
- Perform mechanical related tasks such as overhaul, preventative maintenance, fit out and assembly of mechanical equipment.
- Use a range of precision measurement equipment, machinery, hand and power tools.

**To be successful you will have**:

- Previous gearbox experience (desirable)
- Safety orientation and willingness to learn and continuously develop
- Eye for detail, sound documentation and record keeping traits
- High-level problem-solving skills and ability to work as part of a dynamic team
- Exceptional work ethic and ability to follow work procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills and can-do attitude.
- Desire to drive innovation and exceed expectation.
- Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
- Full working rights within Australia.

**Highly Regarded**:

- Extensive Fitting experience
- Previous Rail/Rolling Stock oe heavy engineering experience
- Valid High Risk Work Licence (preference for WP, DG, LF)

**Salary**: $46.05 - $49.16 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Afternoon shift

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay
- Penalty rates

Ability to commute/relocate:

- ALTONA, VIC 3018: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Fitter: 4 years (required)
- rolling stock: 2 years (preferred)
- Gearbox: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Forklift Licence (preferred)
- Driver Licence (preferred)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (required)

Shift availability:

- Day Shift (preferred)

Work Location: In person
