**_ Alfred Mental and Addiction Health_**
Alfred Mental and Addiction Health (AMAH) is the Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (AMHWS) responsible for the operation of mental health and wellbeing services for people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne. The service comprises of Adult and Aged Programs based in Prahran and Caulfield, as well as Child and Youth Programs based in Moorabbin.

**_ Alfred FaPMI_**
The Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness (FaPMI) program aims to improve outcomes for parents who experience mental health challenges, their children, and their families. The program is currently operationalised through local FaPMI Coordinators who aim to build the capacity within AMHWS’s as well as with external agencies to improve the response and support provided to families where a parent is experiencing a mental health challenge.
The FaPMI program is set to expand following recommendations from the recent Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System. This expansion will see the roll out of FaPMI Community Workers for Children and Young People (FaPMI CYP Workers), to deliver direct support to young carers.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
Alongside the existing supports provided by clinicians and peer workers, as our FaPMI CYP Worker, you will provide time-limited practical supports to children and young people, whose parents are registered consumers with Alfred Mental and Addiction Health.
You will develop pathways to connect young people with longer-term community supports.
You will work closely with FaPMI Coordinators to support the delivery of the local FaPMI yearly plan, including developing and facilitating groups for young people, planning events for FaPMI families, and networking and engaging in external community activities.

**ABOUT YOU**
It is expected that you:

- Hold a qualification in Community Development, Community Services, a health related field
- Are able to demonstrate an understanding of familial mental health issues
- Possess a high level of interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and negotiate sensitively with children, young people, their family or carers and members of other community services
- Have knowledge and experience of working within or engaging with the mental health system
- Have a commitment to working in a family inclusive, strengths based manner
- Have an understanding of family violence risk factors and the impacts of trauma
- Have an understanding of confidentiality, consent and information sharing legislation
- Hold Australian working rights
- Have a current Victorian Driver's License
- Have a current Working with Children Check, or are willing to obtain one, and are willing to undergo a Background Police Check
