Poultry Farm Supervisor

**POSITION**: POULTRY FARM SUPERVISOR

**LOCATION**: KINGLAKE WEST, VIC

**SALARY**: $60K - $70K P/A

**TYPE**: FULL-TIME

**OVERVIEW**:
Local egg producer in Kinglake West, VIC, is looking for 3 qualified and experienced poultry farm supervisors to assist with operations.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Bird Welfare: monitor livestock report any welfare issues immediately, birds under floor, sick birds need to be culled immediately, any pecking issue, any rough handling of birds, air quality issues, feed and water issues. Listen and report any abnormal bird noise.
- Safety: report any safety issues, be thinking of safety at all times, come up with improvements. Particapate in the OHS&E program to meet legal and company requirements.
- Monitoring feed and water usage, report, repair, pre-empt any problems that arise.
- Ensure all paperwork is entered correctly and audit compliant daily.
- Maintain exceptional housekeeping and bio-security standards to ensure quality assurance compliance.
- Ensure generator is run weekly and maintained with documentation and corrective action.
- Range management including water drainage, resowing, leveling, installing and removing plant support
- Maintain and foster positive relationships with all key stakeholders, including contactors.
- Work with Senior Supervisor to develop a site cleanliness continuous improvement plan for each site.
- All Kinross farm’s biosecurity procedures be strictly adhered to according to each sites standards.
- Be able to cover alarm’s and after hour farm coverage in hot weather on a rostered basis where applicable.
- Be accountable for all visitors and contractors having been inducted and filling out of the bio-security register and OH&s such as JSA’s having been completed prior entry to any building.
- Ensure adequate parts required for shed cleanouts are ordered early and arrive prior to start date.
- Be accountable for any recommendations made by Vets or management and put into place any corrective actions.
- Ensure adequate critical spares are available.
- To ensure appropriate resources are in place for floor egg control especially for new flocks.
- Administer to birds all vaccines and medications as required through the life of the flock.
- Maintain shed temperatures throughout the year especially Summer and Winter months.
- Other duties as directed by the Senior Supervisor.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Australian Citizens or Permanent residents encouraged to apply
- A minimum AQF certificate III in poultry production (3 years of relevant work experience may substitute for formal qualification)
- Minimum 2 years of recent and relevant work experience
- Thorough knowledge of the management of large scale poultry farm operations.
- Thorough knowledge of the feeding and care of poultry.
- Thorough knowledge of the kinds and uses of poultry raising supplies and equipment.
- Ability to supervise mechanical and carpentry repairs to farm equipment and buildings.
- Ability to organize and direct the work of farm employees.
- Ability to maintain complex records of a research nature in production and test results.
