The primary purpose of this role is to provide a timely and accurate analytical service to ensure ongoing quality and reliability of plant operations. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, covering diverse areas of work including spectrographic, raw materials and environment. This is primarily a daywork role but shift work will be required at times to meet business needs.

**Principal Accountabilities**:

- Sample collection from onsite and offsite (Kooragang Bulk Facilities)
- Registration of samples.
- Preparation of samples using various sub-sampling and crushing equipment.
- Perform a variety of physical and chemical tests on the raw materials used in the aluminium making process.
- Operating x-ray fluorescence, x-ray diffraction and density instruments.
- Test, maintain and calibrate equipment

**Selection Criteria**:

- Current drivers’ licence
- Diploma or degree in chemistry or equivalent
- Demonstrated report writing skills
- An understanding of working in a NATA accredited laboratory
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated computer skills (including Excel)
- Demonstrated experience to report and present information
- Ability to work shift work when required.
