The Team
The position of Governance Officer forms a part of the Agriculture Regulatory Policy branch within the Agriculture Victoria group. The Animal Welfare Victoria and Agriculture Regulatory Policy Branch (AWVARP) delivers policy advice and programs across animal welfare, biosecurity, primary production food safety, and pets. The branch leads legislative reform projects across these policy areas and supports the governance of committees and portfolio entities and promotes regulatory best practice.
The Role
The Governance Officer is responsible for the providing secretariat and grant program support for four statutory ministerial advisory committees, in line with Victorian Government guidelines and policy. The role reports to the Senior Governance Officer in the Governance Unit. The key accountabilities for the role will include:

- Provide high level secretariat services and governance advice to committees and senior stakeholders, including meetings papers, monitoring actions, recording decisions, coordinating out of session papers, logistics and relevant reports, and appointing committee members, to the required quality and timeframes.
- Prepare and deliver timely, high quality ministerial and executive correspondence and briefs based on recommendations and advice from committees and program with consideration of potential implications and risks for government and in accordance with Victorian Government policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop, implement and maintain effective governance systems and processes to support sound decision making that underpin contemporary good governance practices, with a client focused approach.
- Other duties commensurate with the role that support the Animal Welfare Victoria and Agriculture Regulatory Policy Branch to deliver its requirements and obligations.
