NBMLHD Community Mental Health offer a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

The Lithgow Mental Health team is seeking to engage a Clinical Psychologist as a Farmgate Counsellor. The position will engage and support the rural farming communities and individuals within the broader agricultural and primary industry sector who are experiencing severe stress due to impacts of climate, natural catastrophes including fire and drought. In this role, you will be responsible for providing outreach and evidence based psychological treatment, access and assessment to those living in rural and remote areas experiencing psychological distress.

The Farmgate Counsellor will ensure provision of counselling services, community outreach support and assessment, care planning and clinical intervention services to rural localities with recognised rural adversity.

**What you will bring to the role**:

- Tertiary qualifications, professional registration/membership as follow, plus significant clinical experience in mental health: Clinical Psychology - master’s degree or higher in clinical psychology plus full registration as a psychologist and endorsed to practice as a clinical psychologist with AHPRA. Senior Clinical Psychologist - Masters or Doctorate degree in clinical psychology or international equivalent with full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and specialist endorsement in the area of clinical psychology.
- Demonstrated high level of clinical skills and knowledge, with expertise in dealing with complex trauma, and the impacts of disaster upon rural communities, and capacity to work autonomously exercising professional judgement in managing complex psycho-social and mental health issues.
- High level written and interpersonal communication skills with proven ability to negotiate, influence and cultivate relationships with stakeholders.
- Capacity to provide high level professional supervision, in accordance with extensive specialist knowledge skills and experience, within the relevant professional structure.
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills to develop, promote and lead quality improvement activities, and community-based events.
- Liaise with other health service providers and community agencies to ensure continuity of client care while cultivating respectful and collaborative partnerships with other care providers and with Government and non-Government organisations, to create effective communication and information exchange pathways to improve continuity of client care.
- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
