About the Position
Reporting to the Team Leader Wellbeing & Advocacy within the broader Community Strengthening & Economic Development team, the Primary Prevention Officer will foster and develop key partnerships and networks to deliver preventative measures for community safety and identify and respond to key social issues.
Skills and Experience
In-depth understanding of current local, regional and state principal and best practice approaches of health promotion, social determinants of health and primary prevention
A strong understanding and experience in preventing family violence, all forms of violence against women and gender-based violence, harm from harmful industries (i.e. alcohol, tobacco) and community safety
Relevant experience particularly in relation to health promotion, community development, project management, working within a prevention model of practice
Understanding of community capacity building, and skills in implementing community development strategies to meet required needs
Highly developed report writing skills including research, analysis and evaluation
An ability to work effectively and build partnerships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
Ability to manage financial budgets
Ability to think strategically, conceptually and innovatively to develop and deliver against key primary prevention and social policy areas
**Requirements**:
Tertiary qualification in health promotion, public health, health sciences, community development. Lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience
The position requires professional knowledge and demonstrated experience in health promotion, Community development and engagement, project management, policy development and community engagement
Satisfactory National Police Check
