**The Opportunity**
We have an opportunity for a Research Officer (Agronomy) to be part of our SARDI Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The Research Officer (Agronomy) is part of the Agronomy Program in the Crop Sciences research division within the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and will be located at Waite. The role contributes to delivering SARDI’s priority of leading and conducting innovative research to increase productivity of our primary industries for the benefit of South Australia. The primary purpose of the role is to provide research support to the SARDI Waite Agronomy team and be responsible for the conduct of and data collection from field trials in the Murray Mallee and Mid North agricultural regions and greenhouse trials undertaken by the SARDI Waite Agronomy team.

**Special Conditions**
- Term contract until 1 April 2026 with potential for further extension
- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).

**Requirements**:

- This is a physically demanding role and involves exposure to dust and pollen, which may cause an allergic reaction in some people. A pre-employment medical may be required.
- A current car drivers license is essential and willingness to obtain aforklift license (LF)
- A current Chemcert Certificate will be required, as the role will involve the use and handling of agricultural pesticides or willingness to obtain one.
- Some out of hours work, weekend and inter / intrastate travel may be required during peak work periods.
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.
- Use of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) is required and a Remote Pilot License (RePL) or a willingness to obtain one is essential.
- Experience in the operational management of agronomy research trials will be required, and a preparedness to undertake field work in a range of weather conditions is required.

**Remuneration**
PO1 - $67,466 min - $82,359 max per annum, plus superannuation
