**About the role**:
The purpose of the role is to lead the data governance team within the Data and Enterprise Technology and driving the implementation of the Data Governance Framework including facilitating Data Governance maturity uplift activities across Suncorp.

**More specifically, you will**:

- Manage data governance team resources to achieve the objectives of data governance programs of work.
- Support Senior Management, comprising stakeholders from across business functional areas as part of the Group Data Council and Data Steward Council, to achieve Data Governance objectives and priorities, resolve issues escalated and align outcomes to expectations of regulatory bodies as required.
- Oversee development and maintenance of enterprise-wide data flows, systems lineage and metadata, active data definitions and allocated owners as per the data governance framework
- Collaborate with business function data governance roles to delivery data governance programs of work ensuring there is clear accountability for the stewardship of data assets.
- Champion the enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on the data governance capabilities including improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through influencing and modifying organisational policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture
- Serve as a liaison across functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritisation and planning
- Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise
- Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements

**About You**:

- Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology and/or Business or equivalent industry experience Mandatory
- Experienced in the usage and formulation of Data Governance Frameworks
- Knowledge of Australian Information Management and Security and Privacy legislation and industry best practices.
- Demonstratable strong leadership and people management skills and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in providing tailored advice to senior management
- Project Management and/or consultancy skills
- Experienced presenter
- Ability to develop and manage multiple relationships and to influence and partner with varied stakeholders across the business.

**Key Capabilities**:

- Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
- Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
- Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design
- Stakeholder management to embed Data Governance into the strategic process
- Management of a technical people by coaching, mentoring and developing their skills in relation to analytics and stakeholder relations.
- Technical & Professional Knowledge - must possess comprehensive data and analytical knowledge and a strong ability to keep up to date with industry changes.
- Analysis & Problem Assessment having a strong ability to analyse information and provide meaningful assessment to all stakeholders.
