**Position Description**

The Assistant Director, Security Governance is responsible for the development and implementation of personnel, physical and wider protective security requirements, and policies at IP Australia.

The Assistant Director Security Governance will need to have a detailed knowledge of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and experience in implementing appropriate policy and procedures proportionate with corporate Government security risk environments.

The specific duties of the Assistant Director Security Governance role include, but are not limited to:

- Develop and coordinate security communications and online training or awareness programs
- Perform routine assurance activities, complete related reports and action findings or recommendations
- Provide high quality evidence-based advice and coordinate improvements
- Assist in the development and implementation of security plans, protective security policies and relevant instructions or processes
- Manage small team
- Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate input to Committee materials and reporting including provision of secretariat services
- Demonstrate attitudes and behaviours responsive to leading through workplace change (including participates in and encourages others to participate in change and contribute to successful outcomes)
- Improve organisational performance through effective engagement with and management of risk within relevant sphere of influence
- Establish clear expectations and creates an environment to achieve stated goals and objectives, takes ownership and honours commitments
- Maintain an understanding of their/worker responsibilities under the Work Health & Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and a commitment to promoting a healthy and safe workplace.
- Demonstrate knowledge to implement/manage Australian Government protective security policy and requirements, security projects, risk management
- Excellent understanding and provide assurance that our security risk is being effectively managed through relevant and timely reporting mechanisms
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, exercise a high degree of discretion.

As this is a Designated Security Assessed Position, the successful applicant must be an Australian Citizen.

Desirable qualifications for the position are:

- Diploma in Government or equivalent or
- Certificate III in Government Security or equivalent
- Experience in implementing/managing Australian Government policy is required for the position.
