About the role
Justice Nichols is seeking a legally qualified individual to be her Associate for a period of 12-18 months, commencing in early December 2023.
Justice Nichols manages and hears a wide range of commercial matters within the Commercial Court, including claims relating to contract, equity, statutory breaches, injunctive relief and taxation. As a Judge in charge of the Group Proceedings List, her Honour is engaged in the management and determination of group proceedings involving shareholder, consumer and other commercial matters.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience across the Commercial Court and closely observe the work of judge and counsel.
At least one year's post admission experience at a law firm (or similar) is desirable.
You should have an excellent academic record, first class research skills, a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in commercial law. You should be able to communicate and write clearly and concisely, with strong attention to detail.
The Commercial Court has judge-managed lists so you will require an ability to manage work in chambers whilst juggling a variety of administrative demands. As such, you should possess commendable time management and organisational skills.

**Duties include**:

- Undertaking high level legal research;
- Assisting with the production of judgments, papers and presentations including proof-reading and editing;
- Performing a wide range of administrative tasks, including managing the demands of a Judge Managed List;
- Acting as chambers' first point of contact, liaising with other judges, Court staff, the public, the media and the profession; and
- Undertaking the duties of an Associate in Court.
