**The Role**
You will be a member of the Branch that provides strategic advice on assessment policy; manages the Australian Government’s assessment role; and leads regional schools’ policy development and implementation, to improve the measurement of school outcomes. The Branch is comprised of four teams, and we are seeking to fill vacancies across all teams.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the APS Level 5 Policy Officers and/or Analytical Officers will depend upon the team roles as outlined above, but can include working under limited supervision to:

- Contribute to high level strategic advice about the current and future directions of schools assessments and reporting.
- Prepare timely briefing, analysis and other documents to support senior executives in their representation of the Australian Government in education governance working groups.
- Support high level secretariat and stakeholder engagement related to the implementation of assessments and national reporting.
- Engage with a range of internal stakeholders whose work impacts on students in regional, rural and remote areas of Australia.
- Participate in inter-governmental networks and working collaboratively with external organisations such as the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, parent bodies and regional education organisations.
- Assist in the management of Australian Government funding agreements, including the analysis of reports and other contract material and prepare briefings and provide advice on the outcomes.
- Research and analyse school assessment and youth transitions data to provide analysis, insights and advice about implications for Australian students, schools and education policy.
