**Anglo American Steelmaking Coal**
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

**Job Description**:

- Reporting to the Geology Manager, the Geoscience Modelling Specialist will be responsible for creating spatial representation of key geological parameters that reflect the resource to inform business decisions at appropriate scale and resolution with a focus on supporting the Northern Region (Moranbah North and Grosvenor Operations).

This is a full-time permanent role based at our Brisbane Corporate Office with some travel to site. Some of your responsibilities will include:

- Be accountable for delivery of fit-for-purpose geoscientific models into downstream processes to support short, medium and long-term development of the resource
- Be accountable for the geological evaluation within the region, including the identification of potential geoscientific hazards / opportunities and communication to stakeholders
- Develop geoscientific modelling processes and schedule, including triggers and actions, to deliver models to the quality and timeframes required
- Validation and incorporation of exploration and operational datasets into geoscientific models
- Generate models and resource estimates for annual statutory reporting for entities within the region
- Completion of spatial and temporal geoscientific model reconciliations to monitor model accuracy
- Document and communicate geoscientific modelling processes including the appropriate usage of the outputs along with the adequacy and confidence
- Incorporate understanding of geoscientific risks and opportunities into exploration planning
- Establish compliance processes and adhere to technical standards
- Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Geosciences (or relevant discipline)
- Extensive experience in geological modelling utilising Vulcan software, including significant time in coal geological modelling
- Ability and experience to act as a Competent Person for Mineral Resource reporting and membership of a professional body
- Ability to synthesise a variety geological and geophysical inputs to develop geological understanding across complex
- Understanding of the principles and importance of data QA/QC, relevant to geological modelling
- Experience with geoscientific databases is essential and an ability to script / automate processes would be an advantage
- Strong track record engaging with stakeholders across multiple sites and workstreams
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing solutions to complex issues
- Track record of interfacing with and influencing across all functions of the business
- Operational geology experience in underground longwall and/or open cut mining is highly
