Maxima’s Recruitment Services are seeking a Native Title and Cultural Heritage Officer for a position with their Local Government client. This role has the opportunity to be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis.

This is a temporary assignment, commencing as soon as possible through to the end of June.

**About the Company**

**About the Role**

Key responsibilities will include:

- Partnering with project delivery teams on cultural heritage and native title matters to ensure statutory compliance and to minimize delays to project delivery
- Demonstrating an applied understanding of historical and indigenous best practice cultural heritage management, in compliance with Council’s statutory and governance obligations, including legislation and Council’s policies, procedures and delegations
- Providing high level advice and solutions for project teams regarding projects that have the potential to become politically sensitive issues and impact on cultural heritage through collaborative consultation in partnership with indigenous stakeholders
- Building and maintaining respectful professional and proactive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including native title claimants
- Negotiating outcomes with native title claimants and their agents, including in field assessment of cultural heritage risks, to support positive outcomes for Council’s capital delivery projects.

**About You**
- Specialised knowledge and practical experience in the management of native title and cultural heritage compliance is required, preferably in a local government context.
- Prove ability to deliver timely, accurate and strategic advice in relation to the native title and cultural heritage compliance, which can often be of a political or sensitive nature
- High level communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop, manage and present information clearly.
